Education we support
Hornsey Parochial Charities believes that all young people should have the opportunities to reach their full potential, realise their ambitions and build fulfilling careers and lives. Hornsey has seen a vast improvement in academic achievement. However, youth unemployment remains high. We believe that preparing young people for the future is as important as ever. We work to give children and young people the education they need and fight the inequalities that stand in their way.
Between 2000 and 2019, we have provided 851 educational grants, totalling over £530,000.
We have supported 567 young people with educational fees
We have supported 133 young people with educational living expenses
We have supported 155 young people with educational resources and equipment
We have supported 89 young people with the cost of transport to access education
Case study: University student
“I was struggling with finances due to COVID-19 and had other money related issues. The grant helped me to purchase equipment and stationery which have been extremely beneficial to my studies. It can be argued that without the equipment I would not have been able to complete exams and join online lectures in Financial Mathematics”.
Case study: Secondary School pupil music lessons & support with Music Diploma after leaving school.
“HPC has without a doubt been of great support to my son through his secondary education. With their support he has had opportunity to pursue his dreams. I can't thank them enough”.
